Save the Children International (SCI) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Emergency Health Programme Coordinator.

The organisation works to ensure children around the world get health care, food and shelter as well as learning and child protection services.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure good integration of key organisational principles and approaches such as child participation and monitoring and evaluation throughout emergency health project cycle
  • Ensure lessons derived through implementation of emergency health response projects are well articulated, documented and disseminated both internally and externally
  • Oversee the implementation of emergency health in SWAN project implementation areas and ensure the quality standards and state of the art are met
  • Ensure effective startup, management, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of emergency health across the implementation areas
  • Provide support and guidance to implementing partners, assess response needs and provide technical assistance for government/partners on need assessment and response plan preparation
  • Facilitate trainings for health professionals on public health emergency management and surveillance
  • Participate in and/or leading emergency health/multi-sectoral assessments as required
  • Conduct regular field visits to provide technical assistance to the implementing partners and evaluate programme
  • Closely work with the supply chain, warehouse to ensure programme supplies are dispatched appropriately, efficiently used, complying with donor requirements, and that reports are submitted in a timely manner
  • Communicate emergency health response programme achievements against agreed strategic objectives and milestones, and any emerging new evidence of public health emergency response for a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • In collaboration with senior public health specialist, ensure timely preparation and implementation of phase-out strategy
  • Ensure timely and high-quality technical support to emergency health response projects throughout the project cycle

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health/Nursing or postgraduate degree in Public Health
  • Five years, minimum, of field experience in humanitarian work, including significant experience in emergency health
  • Very good advocacy, communication and representation skills
  • Strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills
  • Good supportive supervision skills and ability and willingness to travel to the field and support project in urgent situations
  • Good presentation, training and facilitation skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Good computer skills
  • Familiarity and working experience with emergency health response donors and implementing partners
