Financial Inclusion Improves Sanitation and Health (FINISH) Mondial has announced a call for participation in the second annual SanTech Hackathon.
During rainy seasons, ground water tables rise. This may lead to flooding/waterlogging destructive to sanitation infrastructure. Sludge from pit latrines gets mixed with and contaminates ground and surface water (used for household consumption and agricultural activities) at great expense to public health.
Therefore, the programme aims to address problems related to sanitation, ensuring people are aware of the need for a safe and durable toilet.
Benefits
- First prize winner will receive €3,000 plus implementation of solution in one of the FINISH Mondial countries
- Second prize winner will get €2,000, while third prize winner collects €1,000
- Audience Favourite winner will get €1,000
Eligibility
- Open to individuals or groups (research institutions, academic institutions, NGOs, or entrepreneurs)
- Professionals with toilet construction technical experience are encouraged to apply
