IAVPP Delivers Food Items to Vulnerable Households

The Initiative for the Alleviation of Vulnerable Persons from Poverty (IAVPP) has distributed food items to 200 vulnerable households in a Ruga community in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Development Diaries reports that Womenovate, DME Group, and Beacon Consulting collaborated with IAVPP to implement the event, which was tagged the ‘Ruga Food Drive’.

IAVPP Executive Director, Juliana Okoro, explained that the food drive was expected to help cushion the effect of the economic hardship on members of the beneficiary 200 households.

Some of the items donated include rice, spaghetti, noodles, tomato paste, seasoning, and salt.

‘By distributing these food items, the beneficiaries will have access to nutritious meals and can meet their basic nutritional requirements’, she said.

‘This charitable effort not only offers immediate relief but also fosters a sense of community empathy and support, helping to create a stronger, more compassionate society that takes care of its most vulnerable members’.

Nigeria ranked 109th out of the 125 countries in the 2023 Global Hunger Index, with a score of 28.3, which represents a serious level of hunger.
