YouthHubAfrica is seeking to fill the role of Programmes Officer on Education.
YouthHubAfrica is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that provides platforms for young people to contribute to sustainable development and collaborate in creative and special ways.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the executive director, programmes manager, and other team members to understand programme goals and meet expectations
  • Analyse trends and gaps in educational development, policies and emerging issues and recommend programme strategies to meet needs
  • Take the lead in preparing proposals, concept notes and reports as assigned
  • Design and ensure proper implementation of activities in the project under the education thematic area
  • Contribute to information-sharing and data management systems
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports on time and with accurate data
  • Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed
  • Actively participate in relevant working groups and contribute to interagency initiatives
  • Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organisation, notably through the application of the organisation’s code of conduct
  • Take notes of regular team meetings for the programme office use
  • Work with other programme assistants to coordinate work activities, meet deadlines, and provide support where needed

Requirements

  • Degree in Education, Social Sciences or a related field from any reputable school (a master’s degree will be an added advantage)
  • Three years of experience in programme design and implementation in a similar role will be an added advantage
  • Proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing community mobilisation projects and stakeholder engagement
  • Proven knowledge and experience in leading advocacy efforts
  • Proven knowledge and experience in stakeholder management, which includes mapping and engagement
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible to a changing environment, and make decisions independently
  • High-level computer literacy
  • Willingness to work in a team
  • Experience in an NGO is an added advantage
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the country and across the region regularly
  • High degree of independence, creativity and commitment
  • Strong analytic and communication skills, ability to write clearly and succinctly under time pressure and to make well-organised verbal presentations
  • Ability to work under high-pressure of work
  • Passion for education and girl-child development
