The World Vision International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Chief of Party.

The mission of the organisation includes working with the poor and promoting human transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organisation (Christian conduct, devotions, chapel, prayer, worship)
  • Incorporate World Vision core values into decisions within scope of role
  • Lead the project team on the technical and operational aspects of the project, including planning and implementation, ensuring clarity over plans and priorities and encourage effective teamwork and adaptive management
  • Oversee a team of senior technical, operations, compliance and finance staff and ensure clear roles and responsibilities and lines of communication are maintained among the team members
  • Supervise key staff, including ensuring field staff regularly prepare and accurately update performance data
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to managers and staff to achieve project goals and develop national leadership capacity
  • Develop a vision for the project and lead its adaptation based on performance data and regular reviews
  • Ensure compliance with USAID requirements, U.S. government regulations, and World Vision’s policies and procedures
  • Review and approve contractual deliverables to meet USAID and corporate reporting requirements that document programme performance and monitor overall award compliance
  • Lead preparation of project deliverables, including annual workplans, budgets and project activity updates, and other project-related communication and reporting material in accordance with USAID deadlines
  • Organise project teams and oversee production of SOPs to meet project goals and ensure compliance with policies
  • Liaise with USAID/Senegal, local government institutions, civil society organisations, private sector companies and investors, and other partners to coordinate activities and facilitate monitoring and reporting of project objectives and achievements
  • Liaise with U.S. government partners and other donors and implementing agencies to ensure coordination of and synergy with other USAID/Senegal health activities
  • Build strong strategic partnerships with a wide group of stakeholders required to achieve project goals, including local civil society and the private sector
  • Attend and participate in weekly chapel services

Requirements

  • Masters’ degree in Public Health, Health Systems Management, Health Policy, or an advanced degree in a related field
  • University degree (or higher) in Nursing, Medicine, Surgery is preferred
  • 14 years, minimum, of experience in managing and leading technical and administrative teams for health projects focused on areas including maternal/child health (MCH), health systems strengthening, family planning (FP)/reproductive health (RH), malaria and/or nutrition
  • Demonstrated ability to support cross-sectoral programming (e.g., with nutrition, education, and/or governance) in development settings
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective working relations with key stakeholders (e.g., international organisations, NGO partners, host country governments, and U.S. government agencies)
  • Demonstrated credibility as a leader on matters of MNCH/FP/RH and health systems strengthening
  • Five years, minimum, of experience in senior management roles with financial and technical oversight responsibilities
