Princeton in Africa (PiAf) has opened its application for the 2025/2026 Princeton in Africa Fellowships.

PiAf is a non-profit organisation that offers year-long paid post-graduate fellowship opportunities with a variety of organisations working across the African continent.

The Princeton in Africa fellowship is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for personal and professional development and growth, offered to recent college graduates with organisations across the African continent.

Benefits

  • $350 programme placement fee upon acceptance of a post
  • Round-trip airfare to and from post in fellows’ host country
  • Pre-departure medical expenses (immunisations, malaria prevention meds, personals meds, visit for completing medical release form)
  • Depending on post, fellow may contribute to visa or work permit costs
  • Housing and living stipend
  • Certain visas/work permits
  • Medical insurance, medical evacuation insurance, security evacuation insurance
  • Mid-year retreat partial travel allowance and meals/housing

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be young professionals or current undergraduates graduating by June 2025 at the time of application
  • Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, or a Ph.D. from a four-year U.S.-accredited university
  • Nexus applicants must have an undergraduate degree or a master’s degree (or equivalent), or a Ph.D. from an African university
  • Applicants must have full professional proficiency in speaking, reading and writing English as defined by the CEFR (Level C1 and above).(Professional proficiency in French is preferred)
  • Must be not more than 35 years of age for the duration of the fellowship year (through August 2026), applicants for the 2025-26 fellowship year must have a birthdate that falls on or after 01 September, 1990
  • Applicants must have a passport valid through the end of the fellowship year (August 2026)
  • Both general and nexus applicants must not be enrolled in any graduate, doctoral, or equivalent advanced academic programmes during their fellowship year
  • Nexus Applicants must have citizenship in an African country and have current residency in an African country (applicants with dual U.S. citizenship will not be considered)
