Fred Hollows Foundation is seeking to fill the role of Grants and Finance Officer.

The foundation, an international NGO founded in 1992, has been a force in the development and implementation of blindness prevention programmes in some of the poorest and most isolated regions in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date accounting records that are relevant, reliable, objective and understandable
  • Ensure financial transactions are adequately documented, reviewed and validated before input into the financial management system for data quality and coding accuracy of transactions
  • Post entries to the accounting software in a timely manner
  • Ensure a backup and retention procedure is in place and followed for all accounting records/data/documents
  • Perform all accounts including ensuring that cash, payables and receivables are timely reconciled
  • Review all procurement transactions to ensure adequate supporting documentation, accuracy of amounts and control overpayments
  • Prepare and attend to the needs of auditors by way of participating in pre-audit meetings
  • Prepare audit schedules as per checklist made available and any other pertinent supporting analysis
  • Check and ensure all monthly tax payments, statutory and regulatory deductions and other returns are accurate, complete as well as remitted in a timely manner
  • Ensure timely preparation of tax returns and other forms for review by finance manager prior to submission
  • Liaise with local government to ensure compliance with tax regulations, pension payment and other requirements
  • Ensure full financial compliance with donor, government, legal and FHF requirements

Requirements

  • Five years, minimum, of work experience in a similar role within a recognised NGO
  • BA degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • High level of computer literacy with sound knowledge of financial accounting software and spreadsheet packages
  • Solid knowledge of full-cycle accounting principles, financial systems, budget/cash-flow monitoring and internal accounting controls
  • Knowledge and use of SUN systems
  • Sound knowledge of current legislation and regulatory requirements relevant to INGOs in Ethiopia
