Head of Overseas Programmes

Salary £37-40,000 per annum depending on experience

Street Child Africa is a leading UK charity entirely devoted to helping street children across Africa.  We are a fast-growing and respected charity working in Partnership with African organisations who adopt a street-based approach reaching out to children, offering them guidance from trustworthy adults, education, medical care, baby care, vocational sponsorship, a place in the community and a chance to choose a different path in life.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and self-motivated professional looking for autonomy in their role to lead the development of the programmes strategy in line with the organisation’s vision, mission and objectives.

As part of the Senior Management Team, you will lead the management and development of sustainable programmes, working to increase the impact of these programmes consistent with the organisation’s strategy and business plan.

Specific aspects of the job include management of a small team, working closely with partners on a variety of projects across a large geographic area, and building and strengthening long-term relationships through extensive travel and regular communication.

The successful candidate will be a confident speaker, experienced in leadership and planning and educated to post-degree level in a relevant subject.

You will have a good knowledge and understanding of children’s right issues, an in-depth knowledge of the UNCRC and other international human rights instruments, and the motivation and drive to make a real difference to the lives of the street children and vulnerable families with whom we work.

Fluency in English and French are essential to the role, as are excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team.  Concern for the plight of Street Children in Africa and a passion to do something about it is critical.  Please note that any offer made to a candidate for this position who is successful at the interview stage will be subject to receipt of a clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (formerly CRB).  This is a pre-requisite for the position of Head of Overseas Programmes at Street Child Africa.

Closing date for applications is: Monday 30th. September 2013, 9.00am

This position is based in Thames Ditton, Surrey and therefore we can only accept applications from those individuals who have eligibility to work in the UK.

Further information on the charity is available on our website www.streetchildafrica.org.uk
