Save the Children (STC) Nigeria, a non-governmental organisation that works to protect children from all forms of violence, has announced the appointment of Mercy Gichuhi as its Country Director.

An educationist with over 25 years of experience in managing, designing, and leading humanitarian and development programmes, Gichuhi has served STC for 19 years in various management and leadership roles.

STC’s humanitarian work provides child-friendly spaces for children to learn, plan and receive the support they need to recover from trauma. The organisation sets up temporary learning spaces and support the re-enrollment of out-of-school children so they can have an education.

The organisation also helps to build the capacity of health workers and the health system in Nigeria, as it prevents malnutrition while delivering low-cost interventions that save the lives of newborns.
