Nigeria: FAAN Fumigates Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), ahead of its decision to reopen airports for operations, has begun the fumigation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers.

This was disclosed in Lagos by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu, who said that the fumigation exercise was in line with the guidelines for mitigating the spread of Covid-19.

Yakubu said, ‘This is to ensure the safety of passengers and other airport users when the airports eventually reopen. In March this year, the authority embarked on a similar exercise of disinfection and fumigation of all the international airports’.

She further stated that although the federal government is yet to lift the ban on both domestic and international flights, fumigating these airports is in line with FAAN taking proactive measures.
