The Coalition for Revolution (CORE) has called on Nigerians to take a stand and demand for good governance from the nation’s political leaders by taking part in its National Day of Action.
Development Diaries learnt that the event is designed to commemorate the first anniversary of the #RevolutionNow campaign that saw some Nigerians take to the streets on 5 August, 2019, to peacefully call for good leadership from political leaders in Nigeria.
Co-conveners of the group, Baba Aye, and Gbenga Komolafe, in an issued statement, said the time to take action and demand for good governance was now.
‘The situation in the country for poor people keeps getting worse. While poverty continues to increase for the many, the rate of stealing of monies that could be used to improve lives and livelihoods keeps accelerating, on a daily basis’, the statement read in part.
‘Repression follows in tow, to stop questions being asked.
‘And those who actually work, waged workers are underpaid and overworked.
‘The masses are fed up. This is the time to rise and fight to break our chains.
‘The situation of the country for poor working people was terrible when we flagged off the campaign last year, but now it is even worse’.
