World Health Organisation (WHO) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Technical Officer.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to WHO country offices and member states, to strengthen VPD data management and improve data quality
  • Oversee the development of tools and electronic applications, to facilitate collection, compilation, management, analysis and dissemination of immunisation programme data in a user-friendly manner and according to defined data governance protocols, including efforts to integrate into national health information management systems
  • Design and manage databases and other data management tools related to immunisation activities and VPD surveillance that address all needs of the Expanded Programme of Immunisation (EPI) at the levels of the regional office and national programmes
  • Collect immunisation programme data from the national immunisation programmes of member states
  • Manage data relating to different immunisation activities, including vaccination coverage, programme management and VPDs surveillance
  • Analyse data regularly and in response to programme need for specific information about immunisation programme operations
  • Produce and update information products including reports, charts, bulletins and infographics, to convey messages in the form of storyline, promotional materials
  • Disseminate information feedback to WHO country offices, member states, IVP partners and WHO headquarters
  • Coordinate data management activities with other EMRO departments, IVP partners, other regional offices and WHO headquarters 

Requirements

  • University degree in Data Analytics, Data Management or a related area
  • Training in Geographic Information System and master’s in Public Health (desirable)
  • Five years, minimum, of experience in data collection, management and analysis of public health data
  • Experience in data collection, management and analysis of immunization and VPD surveillance data (desirable)
  • Experience working in an international organisation
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, methodology and techniques of data management
  • Expert knowledge of English
  • Intermediate knowledge of French and Arabic
