Save the Children International has opened applications for the role of Nutrition Assistant.
The organisation works to ensure children around the world get health care, food and shelter as well as learning and child protection services.
Responsibilities
  • Carry out the day-to-day running of the OTP and TSFP sites, including admission, management and discharges, following the CMAM protocols and related documentation
  • Implement Out Patient Therapeutic Programme and Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme at health unit and community level
  • Ensure monthly routine screening at the community level, ensuring appropriate referral of the cases of malnutrition are identified
  • Register SAM cases and on a weekly basis provide RUTF, inform mothers/caretakers about the weight of their children and growth status, using the growth monitoring card
  • Ensure that OTP register books are well-filled in, and the beneficiary cards are filled and with all information for the particular child, for easy follow-up
  • Support and supervise the community health workers/volunteers for mobilisation activities and follow-up of the defaulter cases
  • Provide MUAC training to the CNVs/CHW, and support them to carry out community screening on a regular basis
  • Facilitate the implementation of social behaviour change (SBC) and support to the Maternal Infant and Young Child Feeding Programme and hygiene promotion at nutrition/health post
  • In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly
