Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Protection Specialist.

NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Identify protection opportunities to build on CC activities
  • Contribute to the development of tools and methodologies to better integrate cross-cutting issues
  • Contribute to the institutionalisation and promotion of best practices and learning related to protection
  • Help design and deliver capacity building activities to build the capacity of field staff to understand and deliver safe programming based on NRC’s protection policy and training materials
  • Contribute to the identification, development and maintenance of relationships with relevant stakeholders in Uganda
  • Contribute to the development and facilitate the use of effective assessment and monitoring and evaluation systems in Uganda
  • Ensure compliance with NRC programme policy, quality standards and technical guidance
  • Contribute to the alignment of monitoring and evaluation and PCM systems with protection programming in Uganda
  • Contribute to the identification, prioritisation, development and documentation of advocacy issues in Uganda

Requirements

  • Advanced academic qualification in Law, Social Sciences or a related field
  • Clear understanding of protection issues, legal frameworks and professional standards in humanitarian and displacement contexts
  • Four years, minimum, of senior work experience in humanitarian protection
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Experience in international organisations and/or NGOs
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Experienced in facilitating and leading internal organisational processes
  • Ability to coordinate tasks, work processes and work with short deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and proactively with limited daily support and supervision
