The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Data Officer.
NRC provides assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Create and adjust templates and tools for collection of data and information in and from the field
- Ensure compliance with NRC data protection policies, guidelines and standards in data management
- Ensure team members are trained and familiar with the templates and tools to be used correctly
- Maintain an up-to-date database for tracking of beneficiaries, activity indicators and issues requiring follow-up, including those initiated by community representatives in all NRC intervention locations
- Support the systems and processes for data collection required for monitoring of all projects indicators (internal, donor, and Activity Info), including creation of forms for mobile data collection (eg Kobo), training the team and monitoring the quality of data collected
- Manage and maintain the databases (including interim tools and CFM database)
- Support roll-out of CC database, including through training the team on new data management procedures (eg data entry and updates)
Requirements
- Experience working in complex and volatile contexts
- BSc (or above) in Computer Science, Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics, or other relevant field, or equivalent experience
- Two to three years of relevant work experience in humanitarian and/or development projects, combined with demonstrable skills in database management or other relevant skills
- Experience working in the geographical area
- Fluency in French, both written and verbal, and knowledge of English
- Experience in information management and analysis, and understanding of monitoring and evaluation approaches and techniques will be an asset
- Experience in management of databases
