Apply: FAO Monitoring, Evaluation Specialist

Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist.

FAO is a specialised agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regular updates to the disaster risk management agriculture taskforce
  • Design data collection tools for use of FAO projects and programmes
  • Assist in maintaining project dashboards are up-to-date
  • Maintain information records and monitoring plan documentation such as project beneficiaries, dashboards, project indicators, risks and assumptions
  • Assist in the preparation of workplans for monitoring the progress and evaluation of the impact of all FAO managed interventions
  • Assist in identifying indicators to be used for monitoring progress and assess the impact of all FAO managed interventions
  • Assist in the design of data collection methodologies (sentinel surveys, household surveys, community interviews, key informants, focus group discussions) and data collection instruments
  • Liaise and maintain relationships with technical level staff of implementing partners
  • Contribute to periodic reports on the progress of FAO managed interventions

Requirements

  • University degree in Agricultural Economics, Environmental Science, Business Management, Statistics or other closely related field
  • Two years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects and knowledge management
  • Familiarity with how UN agencies, government and other partners work
  • Experience and knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools
  • Experience in developing monitoring and evaluation tools and information materials
  • Experience in undertaking data analysis, developing online data collection tools
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel frequently to rural areas of Ethiopia
  • Proficiency with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) or other statistical packages (desirable)
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of English and Amharic
  • Nationality of Ethiopia
