FG to shut errant filling stations as petrol hits N1,000/litre

Many filling stations operated by independent oil marketers have now fixed the pump prices of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, at between N900 and N1,000/litre.

This action by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) is commendable as Nigerians raise concerns about the high cost of the commodity by independent petrol dealers. We urge citizens to also report errant filling stations to the NMDPRA for action.

The changing of the guard, yesterday, at National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Department of State Services (DSS) marked the beginning of new expectations by Nigerians in efforts to tackle the country’s security challenges.

The DSS and the NIA have another opportunity to earn the trust of Nigerians by ensuring that their operations are tied to the rule of law. President Tinubu must also ensure that the agencies are strengthened to meet their evolving intelligence gathering needs to be more effective in detecting and preventing attacks.

Osun confirms Monkeypox, activates emergency response

Osun State Government has confirmed fresh two cases of Monkeypox in Ilesa West Local Council of the state. The state government has, therefore, activated its emergency response system to prevent further spread of the virus.

Without immediate action, the Monkeypox outbreak can grow into a catastrophic health crisis. We, therefore, call on the Ministry of Health in the state to carry out a state-wide sensitisation campaign to the disease, especially with respect to preventive measures.
