The Queen Agnes Foundation (QAF) has built a sickbay for the Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Kurudu, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Development Diaries learnt that the non-governmental organisation (NGO) partnered with the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) in executing the project.
President of QAF, Thelma Akinduru, said that the sickbay was a pilot project as the foundation planned on visiting other government primary and secondary schools within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to support their needs.
‘Passion for humanity and love for children motivated me to take up the project, and the renovation and all cost almost N2,000,000’, Mrs Akinduru told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Deputy Director at the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Bashir Abubakar, who inaugurated the sickbay, commended the NGO for constructing it.
‘I represent FCT UBEB. We sincerely appreciate the NGO for coming to put the sickbay for our children’, he said.
‘We are very happy and we welcome many more NGOs who are ready to partner with us so that we will assist and make sure that our children are getting what they are supposed to get’.
Principal of the school, Hajiya Talatu Isah, thanked the foundation and the NSC for their efforts.
