Nigeria: Dangote Cement Donates Vehicles to OSTF

Dangote Cement Plc (DCP) in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) duties has donated 25 operational cars, equipped with security features, to the Ogun State Security Trust Fund (OSTF) in efforts to help improve state security.

Handing over the cars to OSTF in Lagos, the Independent Non-Executive Director, Emmanuel Ikazoboh, said the donation was made to improve the OSTF’s operations, highlighting security as essential to economic development.

He said, ‘No investor will be willing to put his or her funds in an economy where there is insecurity[,] lawlessness and chaos. We are major investors in Ogun state, and as such, we prefer a state of orderliness and sound security which allows businesses to thrive.

‘I recall that on 6 October, 2019, our then Group Managing Director, Joe Makoju, made a pledge on behalf of the company to present operational vehicles to the Fund. As a corporate socially responsible organisation, the security and wellbeing of our host communities remain in our minds’.

He also stressed that maintaining a safe and secure environment for businesses is a key step to encouraging job creation and investments.

Ikazoboh further urged other organisations to support the OSTF’s operations through the provision of operational tools.

‘Collective support, we believe, will go a long way to ensure adequate security for all stakeholders in the state’, he said.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary of OSTF, Opeyemi Agbaje, expressed the organisation’s appreciation, stating that the kind gesture by the management of DCP will go a long way in helping the Fund’s mandate of maintaining peace and security.
