With Dr Igbolo Magdalene announced as the Nigeria Integrity Icon in 2017, Accountability Lab Nigeria (ALN) has completed a film documentary on her outstanding dedication and integrity as gathered by Development Diaries.
The seasoned lecturer at the University of Abuja is renowned for rejecting bribes while pushing back against admitting friends and relatives of government officials who are not academically qualified.
A lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Ibrahim Abdulmuin Adinoh, while giving his remarks concerning Dr Igbolo’s integrity, said, ‘One thing that struck me was when she took over as the head of department. There was a case ongoing at the postgraduate school that involved a high profile personality who was running a programme and had a case of malpractice and under her leadership.
‘She stood and said what was good for the goose should also be good for the gander, no matter how highly placed you are’.
In the documentary, Dr Igbolo said, ‘I love to do what I do. Hard work and honesty are not something you can negotiate, there are no two ways about it’.
Since receiving the Integrity Icon award, Dr Igbolo has introduced transparent management systems in the Department of Sociology at the aforementioned university.
She also speaks out often against sexual harassment of female students by male lectures, condemning the unprofessional and corrupt act.
