Enter: One Young World-bp Lead 2030 Challenge

One Young World, in partnership with bp, has announced a call for participation in the Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG Seven.

According to the latest IEA estimates, approximately 770 million people globally do not have access to electricity, with some of the greatest gaps in Africa and Asia.

The Lead 2030 Challenge therefore aims to find and support innovative renewable energy solutions with the potential of substantially increasing the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.

  • Grant of U.S.$50,000
  • 12 months of mentorship from a team of bp professionals

Eligibility

  • The solution of the entrant must evidently align with the Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG Seven
  • Entrant must be between the ages of 18 and 30
  • Entry must identify key stakeholders and beneficiaries, and propose reasonable and well-thought-out outcomes
  • Product/service must already be in market or ready to go to market
  • Solutions must have a positive social impact, for example, generating employment or developing skills
  • Impacts of solutions must have been adequately measured and/or be measurable
  • Entrant must be able to achieve efficiency and to survive independently through the resources they generate and/or the investments and donations they attract
  • Entry must have the potential to perform as well or better after expanding in scope or size and/or being transported to other regions
