The International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ), in collaboration with the ONE Campaign, and the Elliott family, has announced a call for participation in the Michael Elliott Award for Excellence in African Storytelling.
The contest is designed to honour an emerging journalist in Africa who strives to strengthen people’s voices.
Benefits
- Winners will be invited to take part in a virtual internship with prestigious media outlets
- Winners will take part in editorial meetings and have access to media experts and share their own experiences with top journalists
Eligibility
- Open to English-speaking journalists working in Africa for print, broadcast and online news media
- Entrant must have no more than ten years of journalism experience
- Entrant must submit one published piece that exemplifies Africa through thoughtful reporting and excellent storytelling
- Copy of published story or broadcast clip must be submitted in English
- Works in other languages must include English translations
- Submitted story must be published between 01 December, 2019, and 01 December, 2020.
