Apply: WPHF Call for Proposals

Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) has launched its second call for proposals in Uganda and seeks to fund qualifying projects that are high impact, innovative, and contribute directly to women’s participation in conflict prevention, international reporting and response systems, increasing the capacity of local women’s organisations to identify and respond to threats, and early warning systems and mechanisms that offer opportunities for dialogue and peaceful engagement.

The WPHF is governed at the global level by a Funding Board, which is comprised of four UN entities (currently UN Women, UNDP, UNFPA and PBSO), four donor Member States (currently Canada, the European Union, Germany and the Netherlands), as well as four Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) (currently ICAN, GPPAC, Women Enabled International and the Transitional Justice Institute). The Funding Board decides on the country allocations.


  • The WPHF will grant around $2 million over two years to Uganda
  • Applicants will receive funding within the tier threshold below:
    • Tier I: Organisations applying independently: No less than $20,000 and no more than $100,000
    • Tier II: Organisations applying under a consortium/ umbrella: no less than $100,000 and no more than $250,000


  • The WPHF funds are intended for the benefit of CSOs
  • National and local civil society organisations are eligible to apply
  • The lead applicant organisation must have legal status with the competent national authority
  • A proof of legal registration (or legal status) is a required attachment for any grant application
  • Project proposals should have a project duration of two years
  • Women’s grassroots, local, and community-based organisations are particularly encouraged to apply
