The World Health Organisation (WHO) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of National Professional Officer.

The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations system.

Responsibilities

  • Technical support for the planning, implementation and monitoring of routine immunisation activities to increase coverage
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies and activities within the cMYP and annual EPI operational work plans
  • Panning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of SIAs
  • Improve routine immunisation coverage and strengthen routine immunisation systems to achieve set key performance indicators for routine immunisation, including the second year of life (2YL)
  • Develop district micro plans for routine immunisation
  • Improve planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of supplemental immunisation activities (other vaccine-preventable diseases, e.g., measles, etc)
  • Planning and monitoring of Vaccine preventable disease surveillance activities
  • Support the national programme to collect, collate, analyse programmatic and surveillance data as part of routine monitoring of programme indicators
  • Support improvements in effectiveness of supportive supervision (tools, reporting, action)
  • Support strategies to improve the availability quality and use of data at all levels
  • Support periodic coverage surveys and operations research

Requirements

  • University degree in a health-related field of study
  • Postgraduate degree in Public Health, preferably in epidemiology or other related public health fields
  • Five years, minimum, of experience in EPI/PEI activities or similar roles in a government or a non-governmental organisation concerned with public health management
  • Experienced working in collaboration with the health ministry or in an international organisation
  • Knowledge and skills in public health, planning, supervision, monitoring and evaluation
  • Familiarity with coordination of multi-agency coordination in mass vaccination campaign exercise
  • Excellent knowledge of English language
  • Knowledge of local language(s) including Creole would be an advantage
