The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking to fill the position of Senior Gender Advisor.

The WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.

Responsibilities

      • Ensure that gender is strategically and effectively integrated into the global level plans and project activities, in support of DFI and WEE
      • Provide gender-related technical advice
      • Inclusion of gender criteria in WFP’s tracking tool of CBT operations
      • Partnerships to support global and country-level actions
      • Research on DFI, WEE and digital cash transfers
      • Develop DFI and WEE-related tools and guidance, and gender components of the knowledge sharing and capacity strengthening strategy
      • Undertake advocacy and representation functions
      • Provide technical assistance to CBT operations and government-to-person (G2P) responses supported by WFP such that they integrate DFI and WEE
      • Provide guidance to WFP partners on integration of gender in digital financial products and services
      • Support participatory demand-side analysis, including mapping of user needs, preferences and experiences, and analysis of socio-cultural practices which impede the uptake of digital products and services
      • Advise on community engagement, communication and response mechanisms, and women’s leadership
      • Support the integration of gender in thematic studies

Requirements

      • Postgraduate degree in Gender, International Development, Sociology, or a related field
      • Twelve years, minimum, of experience in gender, across programming, and provision of technical advice
      • Five years, minimum, of experience in an advisory role related to gender, and in working with national partners such as NGOs, CSOs, private sector (desirable)
      • Proactive attitude, with initiative and a sense of accountability
      • Ability to provide technical advice that is actionable and can be understood by diverse stakeholders
      • Ability to develop user-friendly guidance
      • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and facilitation skills
      • Ability to work productively and in an organised fashion
      • Proficiency in English
      • Knowledge of another WFP language is a plus
