The World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Monitoring Associate.
WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Verify the planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, reporting issues or discrepancies to the supervisor for timely resolution of problems and to ensure that the quantity distributed and the quality of the operation is in line with WFP standards
- Maintain information records and monitoring plan documentation in order to assist in the effective delivery and distribution of food items
- Collect monitoring data in accordance with clear direction, in order to support programme reviews and informative decision-making
- Review all forms of monitoring reports and develop a weekly and monthly monitoring update
- Keep all the findings in the Monitoring and Evaluation issue tracking matrix and liaise with Third-Party Monitoring, cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and comments to support programme reviews and improve services
- Provide guidance for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices, monitoring tools and methods in order to support them to complete self-monitoring tasks and to contribute to the visibility of WFP in the coverage areas
- Act as an alternative for the Country Office Gender Focal Point
Requirements
- Graduate degree in the related functional area is desirable and three years of experience in participating in monitoring and evaluation in emergency context operations
- Reliability, attention to detail and problem-solving skills are highly appreciated
- Experience collecting monitoring data, analyses and reporting findings to management team, partners and other stakeholders
- Good knowledge in utilising WFP monitoring and evaluation systems and standards
- Experience in coordination among different stakeholders
- Experience and knowledge in gender mainstreaming
- Thorough understanding of WFP’s mandate and core mission
- Teamwork and good social skills
- Ability to work both collaboratively and under minimum supervision, and under tight deadlines
- Ability to produce materials at speed, targeted to meet the needs of different internal audiences
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different
