Save the Children International (SCI) has opened applications for the role of Digital Education Coordinator.
The organisation works to ensure children around the world get health care, food and shelter as well as learning and child protection services.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and supervise implementation of project activities together with Save the Children and EIDU programme teams at national, county and sub-county levels in Kisumu, Nairobi and Mombasa
  • Ensure quality implementation of Save the Children ed-tech projects in country, providing support to project officers in project management and project cycle management
  • Drive digital innovation and provide technical expertise in ed-tech across Save the Children education programme to derive learning and inform the Ministry of Education and KICD digital agenda
  • Build relationships with schools in order to help them get the most out of the programme
  • Provide digital literacy and build capacity of teachers and staff in using technology to learn and spend time with the learners and teachers
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders providing ed-tech within the counties of operation and externally for learning and providing ed-tech solutions in ECD
  • Provide technical support in implementation of the school and classroom digital components of the project, ensuring that these align with national and global best practices
  • Together with EIDU programme team and national, county and sub-county education officers, ensure that the group’s deliberative process is taking place and actions are documented and implemented
  • Build relationships with stakeholders and government officials working in the Ministry of Education on digital learning to support the successful implementation of the project initiatives and share learnings
  • Organise the development, pre-testing and production of culturally relevant child protection, child safeguarding and child participation communication materials to ensure effective and efficient programme delivery, including facilitating behaviour change, where necessary
  • Develop technical competence in the areas of recruiting schools, training teachers and accompanying schools and government actors in the best possible integration of digital content into everyday analogue teaching
  • Participate and oversee capacity-building activities of project’s key stakeholders including the education officers, project schools, teachers, trainers and beneficiaries and implementing partner
  • Be fully aware of national policies, strategies, other initiatives, developments by government and key stakeholders relating to ed-tech for early childhood development and basic education

Requirements

  • First degree in Education
  • Master’s degree in Education or equivalent will be a plus
  • Experience working with the Ministry of Education, county governments and influencing policy work is considered a very strong asset
  • Experience in implementing child protection programmes and working with local partners is an asset
  • Five years, minimum, of relevant experience implementing education technology in ECD and early grades of learning, coordination and sector integration
  • Ability to make links between early childhood development, basic education and gains in education, child protection, child safeguarding, education technology
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili (both spoken and written) and demonstrable competence in proposal and report writing
  • Experience of community participation, ownership and empowerment
  • Experience of financial planning and expenditure monitoring
  • Commitment to Save the Children’s child safeguarding policy
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and be a team player
