The UK Medical Research Council and the UK Department for International Development (MRC/DFID) have opened applications for the African Research Leader scheme.

The scheme aims to strengthen research leadership across sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) by attracting and retaining exceptionally talented individuals who will lead high quality programmes of research on key global health issues pertinent to SSA.

Benefits

• Awards will provide support for up to five years and the MRC contribution is up to £750,000

Eligibility

• African researchers already based in sub-Saharan Africa
• Individuals working overseas who wish to return to SSA
• Enthusiastic African investigators working in all biomedical and health research areas within the MRC/DFID remit on global health
