The Legal Defence and Assistance Project (LEDAP) is seeking to fill the position of Litigation Counsel.
LEDAP is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) of lawyers and law professionals promoting and protecting human rights, the rule of law and good governance in Nigeria.
Responsibilities
- Format briefs, pleadings and other legal documents
- Keep track of attorney-time records and billing
- Fill legal documents (e-filing skills preferred)
- Transcribe dictations
- Correspond with clients
- Maintain calendars
- Deal with very detail-oriented data associated with lawsuits
- Maintain professional interaction with clients
Requirements
- Degree in a related field (LLB degree is an advantage)
- Legal research certification is an advantage
- Two years, minimum, of relevant work experience
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Clear, confident, articulate communicator (written and spoken)
- Good time management skills
- Team player
- Problem solving skills
- Able to work under limited supervision
- High level of initiative and organisational skills
- Able to meet reporting deadlines and work under pressure
- Proficiency in data management software
