Apply: ICIR Democratic Governance Programme

The International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) has opened applications for the ‘Promoting Democratic Governance in Nigeria’ programme.

The programme, according to the independent, non–profit media organisation, aims to strengthen the capacity of the media to promote transparency, accountability and good governance in Nigeria, particularly in the country’s northwest.

Benefits

  • The project will build capacity of participants
  • Pariticpants will receive financial support
  • Partticpants will work with civil society organisations and the ICIR to undertake investigative and data-driven reports on transparency and accountability issues

Eligibility

  • Open to northwest-based journalists (Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa and Zamfara)
  • Applicants must have two years, minimum, of experience practicing as journalists working in print, electronic and online media
  • Applicants must be below 45 years of age
  • Applicants must be ready to reside in the state for the next year
  • Applicant must have the endorsement of their organisation’s editor
  • Freelance journalists with a track record of critical reporting can also apply
  • Applicants must provide proof of prior critical reporting in the last 12 months
