Executive Director of Onelife Initiative for Human Development, ‘Sola Fagorusi, and his colleague have been in the den of kidnappers for four days.
The founder of the Ibadan-based civil society organisation (CSO) was reportedly kidnapped alongside the Head of Media and Communication at the organisation, Samuel Akpan, along Aramoko-Igede road on 30 September.
The kidnappers have reportedly demanded N100 million in ransom.
Fagorusi and Akpan, it was learnt, were returning to Ibadan, Oyo State, from the site of an agricultural project in Itapaji-Ekiti when they were kidnapped.
The vehicle Fagorusi and Akpan were travelling in, Akpan’s phone and a camera belonging to Fagorusi were reportedly recovered from the scene of the incident by policemen from Aramoko-Ekiti police station.
Divisional Police Officer, Mohammed Mustapha, was reported to have led the policemen to the scene of the incident.
Fagorusi’s Onelife Initiative for Human Development, which is a nonprofit, has been supporting adolescents and young people with sexual and reproductive health knowledge; enterprise skills and civic literacy since 2014.
A similar incident – the abduction of a retired United States military officer, Jide Ijadare, from his oil palm processing factory in Ijan-Ekiti – was reported in the state on 15 September.
A security guard, it was learnt, was reportedly killed during the incident.
Ijadare regained his freedom four days later after paying an undisclosed amount as ransom.
