A group of civil society organisations (CSOs), under Coalition for Legislative Advocacy, has asked Liberia’s National Legislature to set up a committee of experts to conduct an independent review of all loans and grants for the fight against Covid-19 received by the country’s government.
Development Diaries gathered that the spokesperson for the coalition, Christopher Seton, read a petition on behalf of the group, stating that a proper account of loans and grants in the fight against the contagion will create public confidence and erase speculations of corruption.
Seton added that members of the legislature, being the direct representatives of the people, must ensure accountability in governance.
Chairperson on Claims and Petition at the legislature, Rostonlyn Dennis, received the petition on behalf of her colleagues.
