Churches of Christ Help Ministry has provided three psychiatric hospitals in Ghana with consumables and personal protective equipment (PPE) worth GH₵45,000.
The items donated included eight bags of rice, beans, and sugar, as well as 90 bottles of sanitisers, 830 pieces of branded nose mask, and 330 pieces of face shield.
Presenting the items, the chairman of the non-governmental organisation (NGO), Eric Ofori-Gyan, said the donation formed part of the NGO’s annual project to reach out to public institutions rendering selfless service.
The NGO boss said that the items were also meant to help mitigate the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The second wave of the virus infected twice as many people per day than at the height of last year’s first wave, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).
‘Mental health is a big issue in Ghana, especially in this time of the pandemic and so we entreat corperate bodies to assist in this manner’, he said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the three hospitals, the head of Public Relations Officer at theAccra Psychiatric Hospital,Dr Susan Seffah,expressed gratitude to the ministry for the kind gesture.
