Yiaga Africa, with support from the Open Society Foundation (OSF), has opened a call for applications for the Civic and Political Organising Lab for young creatives.
The programme is seeking to mobilise 50 creative actors drawn from the creative industry for arts-based civic engagement, and the lab sessions aim to inspire and mobilise creatives to promote civic engagement by producing content that promotes political education, civic activism, good governance, and social cohesion amongst Nigerians.
Benefits
- Small grants will be awarded to groups to produce artworks
- Full coverage of participation costs including transportation to the location of the Civic and Political Organising Lab, accommodation during the event, meals, and training materials
Eligibility
- Applicants must be passionate about meaningful citizens’ participation in governance
- Be a creative artist such as a visual artist, musician, dancer, monologue artist, spoken word artist, or poet
- Be between 18 and 30 years old
- Be interested in leveraging the arts to promote civic consciousness (Priority will be given to those already working on or leading an arts-based initiative for civic engagement)
- Individuals and groups engaging in art-based initiatives encouraged to apply
- Special consideration will be given to young women and young persons with disabilities who are in the creative industry
