Winrock International is seeking to fill the position of Operations and Security Director.
The organisation provides solutions to some of the world’s most complex social, agricultural and environmental challenges.
Responsibilities
- Act as security expert on all emergency preparedness planning and incident responses
- Provide complete oversight and management for the safety and security for all personnel and assets countrywide
- Develop strategies to continuously improve and refine security management systems for effectiveness and efficiency, considering evolving project needs, team dynamics, and project mission
- Maintain and ensure compliance with project and corporate security policies
- Develop project standard operating procedures, including, but not limited to, access to facilities, travel procedures, communications, and implementation of Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS)
- In collaboration with the director of global security and chief of party, develop the field travel policy, vehicle administration and safety policy, and project security management handbook
- Conduct security risk assessments for new venues, offices, annexes and residences, evaluating physical, geographical, social and structural features which may support or detract from the overall safety and security of a property’s facilities or location
- Collect, update and communicate information regarding the security situation in South Sudan and specifically with respect to Winrock operations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred
- Ten years, minimum, of relevant professional experience in logistics, project operations and/or security management roles with increasing levels of responsibility
- Five years, minimum, of field-based experience in complex and insecure settings, preferably a conflict environment
- Knowledge and security management experience in South Sudan preferred
- Advanced level of understanding with the philosophy and mode of operation of NGOs
- Experience in liaising with civilian, police and military government authorities, as well as regional, national and international institutions
- Highly developed management, interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and mentorship
- Willingness to work and travel frequently in often difficult and insecure environments
