The World Health Organisation (WHO), leader in global public health issues, is committed to building future leaders in public health, and if offering opportunities for internships that could run for a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of twenty-four weeks.
Ideal interns include both students and young professionals from different academic, cultural and geographic backgrounds who have a common interest: a motivation to pursue a career in supporting public health.

- As of January 2020, the WHO provides stipends to interns who need support (after selection, the interns will fill a disclosure form to indicate if they already have support [grant, scholarships etc]. Based on that disclosure form, the WHO will provide stipends up to a specific amount per duty station. The amount will be indicated for each position the interns apply to)
- The WHO provides to all interns a medical and accident insurance
Please note that all costs of travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the intern.
Eligibility
- Citizens of all countries are eligible
- Applicants must be at least twenty years of age on the date of application
- Applicants could
- be enrolled in a course of study at a university or equivalent institution leading to a formal qualification (graduate or postgraduate) (applicants who have already graduated may also qualify for consideration provided that they start the internship within six months after completion of their formal qualification)
- have completed three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the assignment (bachelor’s level or equivalent)
- Possess a first degree in a public health, medical or social field related to the technical work of WHO or a degree in a management-related or administrative field
- Applicants should not be not related to a WHO staff member (son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father)
- Applicants should be fluent at least in one of the working languages of the office of assignment
- Applicants should not have previously participated in WHO’s Internship Programme.
