The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Programme Policy Officer.
WFP works to ensure the most vulnerable populations, especially women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with country, area and field offices to manage the implementation of school feeding, including government capacity strengthening, training, and pipeline issues
- Support the engagement with state governments with regard to scaling up activities
- Support the development of homegrown school feeding modalities and operationalise their implementation
- Support the revision and development of standard operation procedures and related training materials, guidance and tools for the government and community level school feeding management
- Plan and coordinate community mobilisation in preparation for addition of new schools
- Carry out regular visits to field and area offices to provide technical support on rollout and engagement with partners and state ministries of education and health and community mobilisation
- Ensure consistent communication with logistics
- Support and collaborate with the monitoring and evaluation focal point
- Disseminate IEC materials on health, hygiene and nutrition to schools
Requirements
- Advanced university degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or a related field
- First university degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses will be accepted in lieu of the above qualification
- Five years, minimum, of experience in strategy development, nutrition and health-related programming combined with some school-feeding experience
- Experience working with government at different levels and working in challenging rural contexts
- Experience working in Sudan and South Sudan will be an asset
- Fluency (level C) in English and Arabic languages
- Nationality of Sudan
