United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Immunisation Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of strategic and operational documents on communication, community engagement for routine immunisation and for supplementary immunisation activities
  • Support the strengthening of the coordination mechanism for communication activities at all levels in line with the organisational structure of community health
  • Map civil society organisations (CSOs) involved in the promotion of health interventions including vaccination
  • Support the development of action plans for the intervention of CSOs in promoting demand for immunisation services in the 12 priority provinces with their integration into the action plans of priority DPS
  • Establish performance frameworks for CSOs in promoting demand for immunisation services in the 12 priority provinces
  • Promotion of the child friendly communities (CFC) concept with the establishment of community platforms to support the immunisation service
  • Support communication and monitoring by community stakeholders with the expected increase in vaccination sessions linked to the extension of the Mashako Plan
  • Support capacity building of community actors in immunisation communication (RECO, CAC, CODESA)
  • Support the search for evidence and the use of data to address practical barriers, such as access to quality services, and to support positive attitudes and social influences

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Communication, Sociology, or a related field; or bachelor’s degree with seven years of proven experience  
  • In-depth knowledge in the field of communication for development (C4D) for maternal, newborn and child health and immunisation
  • Five years, minimum, of experience in communication for development/health in Africa
  • In-depth knowledge of routine EPI issues in Africa
  • Proven experience in the design, development and implementation of community engagement and accountability approaches, with a monitoring-evaluation mechanism and monitoring and documentation tools
  • C4D research and analysis capacity
  • C4D knowledge management
