Save the Children is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Education Project Manager.
The organisation works to ensure children around the world get health care, food and shelter as well as learning and child protection services.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the coordination and implementation of the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) seed fund education project in Jijiga and Dolo-ado field offices in line with the design of the programme and donor requirements
- Establish, maintain and strengthen linkages in the management and implementation of education programme
- Create and sustain positive working relationships with the partners and other stakeholders
- Plan and coordinate ECW Seed Fund Education programme and state level engagements with partners and key stakeholders
- Monitor and ensure timely and quality reports are submitted as per the reporting requirements
- Work closely with education programme manager and MEAL to ensure quality programme delivery, documentation and reporting of progress
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and final narrative report and share with education programme manager
- Work with ECW seed fund programme manager and education specialist in the aspects of the development of detailed implementation plan, implementation and monitoring of the programme
- Actively participate in the process of developing programme annual plan, monitoring and tracking tools
- Ensure effective engagement is maintained with communities and local government partners to ensure responsive and sustainable programming in line with SCI policies and principles
- Ensure the programme education officers understand SCI policies and procedures
- Help create coherent and efficient programme staffing/reporting structure and propose necessary revision
- In close coordination with ECW seed fund education programme manager, ensure planning, development of detailed implementation plans, phased budgets, implementation, monitoring, documentation and reporting for education programme is done
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Development, Management, or Economics in Education or Social Sciences
- Experience in managing integrated programmes across different thematic areas such as education, child protection, child rights governance or disaster risk reduction (desirable)
- Five years, minimum, of accrued work experience in programme implementation with three years, minimum, in a management level position in government office, an international NGO or local organisation that has good reputation within the region
- Experience in strategic thinking and planning skills
- Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities
- Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team
- Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions
- Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills
- Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Ability to intervene in crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Excellent time management and planning capacity
