Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is seeking to fill the role of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Advisor.
MSF is an international independent medical humanitarian organisation that provides assistance to people affected by conflicts, epidemics, and natural or human-made disasters and excluded from healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of SRHR strategies aligned with MSF Ubuntu’s strategic priorities
- Ensure approaches are evidence-based, integrated, and adaptable to diverse contexts, with a strong community-based focus
- Develop and maintain technical guidance, tools, and protocols for SRH, including SGBV and SAC, in line with MSF standards
- Act as the technical focal point for quality of care and patient safety within SRH, ensuring risks in maternal, neonatal, and reproductive health are identified and mitigated
- Collaborate with Advocacy and Communications teams to define and advance SRHR advocacy priorities
- Initiate and contribute to operational research and programmatic analysis in collaboration with Data Science and Epidemiology teams
- Contribute to the broader medical operational vision and strategy of MSF Ubuntu
- Provide expert, evidence-based technical guidance to country programmes and Med-Ops cell on SRH, SGBV, and SAC
- Support field teams in strengthening quality of care through structured quality improvement processes (e.g., MPDSR, mortality reviews, SRH indicator monitoring)
- Promote effective data collection, analysis, and use for continuous improvement and learning
- Identify medical-operational challenges and propose practical, evidence-based solutions
- Support project design, reviews, and strategic planning with country programmes and Med-Ops cell and health programmes leadership
- Conduct briefings and debriefings for country teams and headquarters staff
- Undertake regular or ad-hoc programme visits in coordination with relevant medical leadership (country MedCo, Med-Ops Cell and Head of Health Programmes Unit)
- Represent MSF Ubuntu within intersectional SRH, SOV/SGBV platform/community of practice (CoP), and relevant technical working groups
- Contribute to thematic initiatives and technical projects, including workshops and conferences
- Build and strengthen partnerships with local institutions and organisations to advance SRHR care and innovation
- Support recruitment, validation, mentoring, and development of midwives and talent pools, as required
- Collaborate with learning and development and technical platforms to strengthen training and knowledge sharing
- Develop and facilitate training materials and learning activities (workshops, webinars, CoPs)
- Build the capacity of programmes teams on SRH, SGBV care standards, systems, and tools
- Participate as a facilitator in MSF Ubuntu and international MSF training courses on SRH, SGBV and SAC etc., when requested
Requirements
- Registered Midwife or a Medical Doctor with a specialisation in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, while French is an advantage
- Demonstrated experience in cross-cultural communication and collaboration
- Five years, minimum, of relevant professional and hands-on experience in MSF or similar international medical-humanitarian organisations
- Proven experience in comprehensive SGBV care and service management
- Proven experience in supervision, mentoring, and training skills
- Demonstrated experience in supervision, mentoring, and training
- Strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning
- Excellent skills in Office Suite (advanced MS Excel and others)
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with ability to produce concise, actionable recommendations
- Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Commitment to MSF’s principles
