United Nations Volunteers programme (UNV) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) have launched an initiative to recruit early- to middle-career women professionals in Africa to promote health and boost gender equity across 47 countries in the region.

In a region with some of the highest rates of disease in the world, the Africa Women Health Champions initiative will provide women with the opportunity to serve to improve the health and well-being of people in Africa.

Benefits

  • Monthly living allowance to cover housing, basic needs and utilities for a duration of 12 months (or until 31 December, 2020, with possibility of extension)

Eligibility

  • Candidates need to have at least two years of professional experience and be at least 22 years old for national UNV assignments
  • Candidates need to have at least two years of professional experience and be at least 25 years old for international UNV assignments
  • Application is by registering (or updating) profiles on UNV’s web application system, and only complete profiles will be considered
  • Special focus will be on the recruitment of professionals with experience related to public health, epidemiology, health research, health emergency management, data management, statistics or other health related fields, as well as information management, innovation, communications or external relations
  • Languages: English and French for Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Guinea Conakry, Madagascar, Mali, Rwanda and Togo; English and Portuguese for Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe; French and Arabic for Algeria; English for Eritrea, Eswatini, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.
