The Mubarak Magaji Maradun Foundation (MMMF), a non-governmental organisation, is set to empower 300 women in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Nigeria, in order to help lower poverty levels across the region.
The founder of the organisation, Alhaji Mubarak Magaji Maradun, stated that the empowerment scheme was designed to lift women out of poverty through giving them support in petty trading. He added, ‘[W]omen, especially those in rural areas, find it difficult to get soft loans to finance their businesses. So helping them with money will really boost their confidence and their financial status will be changed for the better’.
The foundation, in a recent and previous intervention, supported 400 students with textbooks and revision classes to prepare them for their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
