Follow The Money, an initiative of Connected Development (CODE), has received official authorisation to carry out a survey in Cameroon’s Far North region.
The socio-digital accountability movement announced the authorisation to survey three communities in the region in a tweet.
It is understood that Follow the Money will survey the three communities of Kolofata, Tokombere and Gawaza with regard to the use of Covid-19 vaccine.
‘After all the hard struggle, our team in the Far North region of Cameroon finally got authorisation from the governor of the region to carry our survey in the community [sic] of [Kolofata], Tokombere and [Gawaza]’, the tweet on Follow The Money Cameroon handle read.
Follow The Money, according to data on its website, has tracked a total of $13.5 million worth of government projects in 371 rural communities.
CODE and BudgIT – a Nigerian civic organisation that applies technology for citizen engagement – recently launched the Covid-19 Transparency and Accountability Project (CTAP) to track all resources from public sector, private, multiltaleral and bilateral donors committed to the pandemic.
According to data from the CTAP website, Cameroon has received U.S.$87,000 in-kind donations and U.S.$485.78 million resources to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
