The World Health Organisation (WHO) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Technical Officer.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the system of the United Nations.
Responsibilities
- Promote effective acute event management through consistent use of WHO’s Event Management software suite to enable accurate real-time information for decision making
- Report to partners and donors by monitoring the quality of information input and liaising with WHO officers globally to remind them to update the aspects they are responsible for
- Track progress against action points related to acute event management, and event-specific key performance indicators
- Manage the distribution and accessibility of event specific documents
- Ensure emergency specific contact lists of Incident management team members assigned in WHO HQ are kept up to date
- Provide support to the EOC by preparing for and delivering training on basic health emergency management and EOCs
- Support the organisation and moderation of EOC-NET meetings and conferences, and backstop EOC officers with acute event management meeting and telecommunications support
Requirements
- First university degree in Business Administration, Public Health, or a related discipline
- Degree in Information Systems or Information Technology will be an asset
- Five years, minimum, of work experience in project management or business administration in public health at national and international levels (at least two of which are/were with WHO or any other UN agency)
- Experience in information management
- Experience in preparing for and delivering training
- Experience in emergency operations is an advantage
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the development and management of ICT and web applications, with a sound knowledge of hardware and software and of EOC equipment and facilities
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills with ability to multi-task and produce results under pressure
- Ability to write and synthesise technical information in a clear and concise manner
- Expert knowledge of English
- Intermediate knowledge of French
