Rand Water is seeking applications from qualified students interested in gaining work experience in analytical chemistry and microbiology.

Rand Water, which has provided bulk potable water to more than 11 million people, draws water from its catchments and purifies it for human consumption.

Responsibilities

  • Collect samples for water quality analysis
  • Preparation of media, chemicals, reagents and samples received for the area of work
  • Perform analytical analysis on samples received
  • Document and check results on the identified databases
  • Performance of, and documentation of, all quality control checks of identified analytical tests
  • Undertake and document maintenance of equipment, instrumentation, biological cultures and test kits and ensure that they are correctly maintained
  • Ensure adherence to good housekeeping principles

Requirements

  • Applicants must be South African citizens a valid SA ID
  • Applicants must be under the age of 30 (in line with the NSDS III)
  • Applicant must be someone that has not participated in previous experiential learning programmes and requires the experience to fulfill the requirements of a national diploma in Biotechnology/Microbiology or Chemistry
