Rainforest Alliance is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Senior Certification Partner Support.
The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit working at the intersection of business, agriculture, and forests to make responsible business the new normal.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design and proactively monitor programmes that actively contribute to the regional strategic plan with a special attention to addressing human rights in the tea sector
- Ensure effective quality assurance while implementing the strategic plan for the region
- Maintain strong support to partners in the implementation of the Rainforest Alliance programme by liaising with local producer organisations, traders and service providers
- Maintain relationships with current stakeholders and partners to expand the network in Malawi
- Facilitate client visits, information sharing, press trips, and market events
- Organise and conduct training for Rainforest Alliance members, partners, and relevant stakeholders in the agricultural sector for smallholder farmers and estates
- Monitor and report on Rainforest Alliance standards and assurance for Rainforest Alliance certificate holders
- Provide guidance to current and potential certificate holders on the sustainability journey in the region
- Assist the director in southern Africa in compiling monthly country and financial reports
- Collaborate and implement projects with key partners, fostering relationships and represent Rainforest Alliance in events
- Collaborate with theme leads and other relevant Rainforest Alliance colleagues in the development of interventions, learning events and related activities that support and/or draw lessons from the abovementioned activities
- Manage budgets, monitoring costs against delivered and realised outcomes
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Agriculture, Development Economics, Business Management, Actuarial Sciences, International Trade or a related discipline
- Five years, minimum, of experience and good understanding of the agricultural sectors, production, trading and sustainability projects, with proven management and reporting experience, preferably in the tea sector
- Relevant experience and knowledge of social aspects (human rights issues, gender issues) in the tea sector
- Relevant experience and knowledge of certification and traceability of products in the tea sector
- Experience in developing and delivering relevant training and capacity-building programmes for stakeholders, including producers and communities
- Computer literacy and ability to advise partners on the use of platforms
- Ability to travel both local and international
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in English and Chichewa
