Plan International is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Project Manager.
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
Responsibilities
- Ensure seamless team management and development, programme delivery, and quality control, monitoring and evaluation of the ‘SHE LEADS’ project in Sierra Leone
- Develop and implement strategies for the project in line with the global strategy, donor requirements and ensure satisfactory completion of programme objectives
- Work closely with ‘SHE LEADS’ alliance member organisations to achieve a cohesive and coordinated approach to Girls Advocacy Alliance Project implementation in Sierra Leone
- Keep close contact with the relevant line ministries and be familiar with government policies on protection and the girl child
- Participate in the monthly project coordination meeting led by the business development manager to monitor progress of the logical framework and activity planning
- Develop initiatives and strategies that will ensure protection and right of children in Moyamba and Koinadugu
- Develop the quarterly financial forecast to ensure appropriate use of the funding budget
- Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly workplans and progress reports detailing tasks (including monitoring plans)
- Submit monthly project update to the business development manager using the appropriate template
- Perform monthly expenditure analysis of all activities with the support of the grants accountant
- Ensure documentation of ‘SHE LEADS’ case studies, best practices and lessons learnt
- Organise budget monitoring meetings of Plan International Sierra Leone and implementing partner staff and submit reports of such meetings to the business development manager and country finance manager
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent practical experience in Human Rights, Social Sciences, International Development and Programme Leadership
- Four years, minimum, of demonstrable experience in development work, preferably in INGO sector
- Two years, minimum, of experience in a managerial role, preferably in a social development setting
- Strong leadership skills and ability to undertake strategic and programme planning
- Good communication and facilitation skills
- Strong understanding of gender equality programming and meaningful child participation
- Knowledge of development challenges and contexts in Sierra Leone, particularly child rights, girl’s rights and child protection
- Experience working collaboratively and supportively without the need for close supervision
- Proficiency in use of word processing spreadsheet and database applications as well as Internet and SAP
- Experience in project management and community-led approaches
- Nationality of Sierra Leone
