Apply: DRC Emergency Manager (Expatriate)

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of Emergency Manager (Expatriate).

DRC fulfills its mandate by providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in assessments of the humanitarian context across South Sudan as a means to update country-based emergency strategies and accompanying response modalities
  • Facilitate the development/review of emergency preparedness and response plan (EPRP)
  • Facilitate the rollout and advise in the operationalisation of the EPRP
  • Develop/update the Mobile Rapid Response Strategy and provide guidance during implementation of emergency responses in new areas of operation
  • Design contextually appropriate modalities for each new intervention and advise implementing staff on a range of issues including context and need analysis
  • Work closely with the country programme technical coordinators
  • Work with the head of programme and technical coordinators to identify and contribute to the development of emergency-focused funding opportunities and project proposals, including contributing to both narratives and budgets
  • Collaborate with DRC South Sudan monitoring, evaluation and learning coordinator to develop appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools for DRC’s emergency response activities, and to ensure lessons learnt are thoroughly documented and shared within the country programme, region and HQ

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management, International Cooperation and/or Humanitarian Assistance, Project Management, or a related field
  • Six years, minimum, of progressively responsible experience in emergency programme management in different countries and context
  • Four years, minimum, of experience in senior management or coordinator position with the field of humanitarian response for an international NGO or UN agency
  • Experience and skill in strategy development, proposal development, budget development, programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in leading and reporting on multi-sector assessments and assistance
  • Experience in working with emergency coordination mechanisms, including OCHA, clusters, UN agencies, INGOs as well as national governments
  • Experience in managing a diverse emergency programme, including WASH, SNFI, CCCM and FSL
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency in English
