Internews has opened applications for Internet Shutdown Measurements for Advocates Training.
Participants, according to Internews, will learn how to collect and analyse internet measurements using a variety of open-source tools and apply the skills to strengthen advocacy efforts against internet shutdowns.
The course is intended to provide an introduction to network measurement, documenting blackouts, detecting blocking of websites and applications, measuring internet performance using open data, contextualising of data and using measurements in advocacy.

Eligibility
- Applicants should be individuals or groups from sub-Saharan Africa who are currently working on advocacy
- Applicants must be willing to collaborate with mentors and other participants
- Group of two individuals may apply together, proposing a collaborative research or advocacy project
- Applicants are expected to be able to devote at least five hours a week throughout the programme
- Participants must have reasonably reliable access to the internet
- Experience in network measurement and data analysis is a plus
