As Nigeria seeks to resume most of its economic activities with the ease on lockdown restrictions and interstate movements, the Nigerian Commodity Exchange (NCX) has announced the commissioning of twelve delivery warehouses across the country with a combined capacity of over 26,000 metric tonnes.
Addressing the press, the Managing Director of NCX, Zaheera Baba-Ari, said that the warehouses were being commissioned to support trading activities on its trading floor for the benefit of commodity traders and consumers, such as food processors, the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA), and the World Food Programme (WFP).
The warehouses in Bauchi, Zamfara, Kogi, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kano and Nasarawa states will facilitate trade in cocoa, sesame seed, soya beans, sorghum, maize, paddy rice, cashew, and cowpea, providing state of the art storage and quality services in each region.
Baba-Ari further disclosed that the next phase of the programme will involve commissioning more storage facilities in Adamawa, Ondo, Cross Rivers, Oyo and Lagos states.
She urged key stakeholders to seize the opportunity of these storage facilities to improve their industrial capacity with the year-round availability of quality raw materials.
